Strategic Planning and Brand Positioning for Leadership Development Nonprofits
Project overview
We provided strategic planning and brand positioning support for a leadership development organization, delivering research-backed personas, unique selling propositions, and a phased strategy that repositioned how the organization communicates its impact to funders, partners, and program participants.
Project Details
We partnered with a nonprofit leadership development organization to build a comprehensive marketing strategy grounded in brand analysis, audience personas, and a clear articulation of what set the organization apart from others in the leadership and workforce development space. Our work began with a full review of the organization’s existing positioning, followed by research into the audiences they needed to reach, from program participants to institutional funders and partner organizations.
A key outcome of this engagement was a shift in how the organization talks about the people it serves. We moved their language away from a traditional asset-based framing and toward a more accurate, people-centric approach, one that reflects the strengths and agency of the individuals in their programs rather than defining them by need. This shift informed everything from their brand guidelines to their program materials.
The final strategy was delivered in phases, giving the organization a clear roadmap for implementation rather than a single static document. Alongside the strategy, we developed a full brand guidelines framework covering their core program offerings, ensuring that as the organization rolled out new materials, executive briefings, and program collateral, everything stayed consistent with the new positioning.
This engagement reflects our broader approach to strategy work with mission-driven organizations: research-backed, phased, and built to actually be used, not just filed away.
